Cuban Parliament Permanent Commissions End Deliberations

The permanent commissions of the Cuban People''s Power National Assembly are concluding Thursday in this capital the two-day deliberations prior to the Parliament''s ordinary period of sessions.

The 12 Commissions are ending discussions today at Havana's Conference Center on important issues related to the country's political, economic and social situation.

Guidelines of the National Economy Plan and the Budget proposal for 2010 are among the top issues under debate.

Representatives of national ministries and other government's agencies are attending the meetings to inform legislators about their organizations' work in 2009 and goals for 2010.

The Health and Sports commission will continue reporting about the antivectorial campaign, recreation, and how to use spare time.

The International Relations Commission will debate on the current world campaign for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in US jails.

The Energy and Environment Commission will analyze energy-saving plans and efficiency of environmental protection measures.

The Education, Culture and Technology Commission will report on the civic, judicial and city preparation program in educational subsystems.

The Agricultural and Food Commission is debating arrangements for the next sugarcane harvest and the fulfillment of the substitution of imports in several food sectors.
