Angolans Reject US Blockade on Cuba
The Angolan Association of Friendship with Cuba (AAAC) ratified its support to the international community's rejection of the almost 50-year-old US blockade on Cuba.
AAAC General Secretary Fernando Jaime told Prensa Latina that the overwhelming support by 187 countries of a UN resolution against the blockade on October 28 showed again the force of reason against imperial arrogance.
Cuba is an honourable country that bravely defends its revolutionary convictions and the fairness of its cause, said Jaime, who added that the economic, commercial, financial siege imposed by Washington against the Caribbean Island is the biggest political shame of the 21th Century that shows the Washington's hypocrisy to the world.
He said the Association sent a letter recently to US President Barack Obama demanding the lifting of the blockade.
The AAAC also expressed its deepest condolences for the recent demise of Carmen Nordelo, the mother of anti-terrorist Cuban fighter Gerardo Hernandez, who has been in jail in the United States along with another four comrades since 1998.
Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez accomplished international mission in Angola against apartheid and in defense of Angolan sovereignty.
These Cuban antiterrorist fighters, along with Ramon Labanino and Antonio Guerrero who are internationally known as The Cuban Five, have been held in US prisons for alerting Cuba of the danger of terrorist actions by Miami-based violent groups.
