Cuba's Support to Palestinian Cause Recognized
A delegation from the Israeli Communist Party (ICP), that visited Cuba, stressed the Caribbean island's support in favor of the cause of the Palestinian people.
The Israeli group, invited by the Cuban Communist Party's Central Committee, was led by Muhammed Barakeh, member of the Political Bureau, leader of progressive and democratic forces in the Israeli Parliament, and general secretary of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality.
Other members included Jamil Abu Ras, member of the ICP Political Bureau and National Secretariat of Histadrut Union, and university professor Offer Cassit, Granma newspaper reported.
The representation termed cruel and inhuman the US-imposed economic, trade and financial blockade on the island for almost 50 years, and demanded the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in that country since 1998.
Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez, and Rene Gonzalez are currently serving harsh sentences, for merely gathering information about violent actions against Cuba by terrorist groups settled in US territory.
Cuban authorities have made evident the solidarity position of Israeli communists' struggles with the Palestinian cause, and support the re-establishment of a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as a capital.
