Homage in Santiago de Cuba to the martyrs of the Revolution

This Tuesday Cuba is observing the Day of the Martyrs of the Revolution. The date remembers the brutal assassination by the Batista Dictatorship henchmen of the underground leader Frank Pais and his comrade Raul Pujol on July 30, 1957 in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba.
 
Early this Tuesday local residents and leaders of the city placed l a floral wreath on the site where the assassination occurred. Frank Pais, who was 22 years old when he was killed, was the National Action and Sabotage Chief of the 26 of July Movement.
 

Puerto Rican “Juan Rius Rivera” solidarity brigada in Cuba

The 28th contingent of the Juan Rius Rivera solidarity Brigade hailing from Puerto Rico is starting Monday its official activities in Cuba
 
The group is made up of 58 people who are dedicating their presence in Cuba this year to Puerto Rico's independence heroine Lolita Lebron, whose centennial is being marked this year.
 

US Gov't Will Fail to Break, Stop Cuba, FM asserts

Cuba''s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stressed that the hardening of the criminal US economic, financial and commercial blockade on the island ''will neither break us, stop us nor choke us.''
 
Rodríguez made the statement at a ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the International Press Center, an institution attached to the Foreign Ministry, where he asserted that Cuba will face up to the full activation of the Helms-Burton Act and other sanctions 'with all our capacity of resistance and victory,' he underscored.

Global Organizations Continue Rejecting US Hostility against Cuba

The hostility of the United States Government against Cuba with the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, which tightens the blockade, is still being condemned by world organizations.
 
In Rome, political and solidarity organizations with Cuba held a protest against the intensification of U.S. policy towards the Caribbean nation.
 

Cuban lawmakers evaluate draft of new Electoral Law

The Cuban Parliament held a meeting on Wednesday for the introduction of the draft of the new Electoral Law, which will be discussed by lawmakers and legal experts island wide before its approval.
 
The change of the electoral law was mandated by the recently approved Constitution, which established that the legislation should be approved six months after the enactment of the New Magna Carta.

CUBA not only prides itself on having a rate of 8.5 doctors per thousand inhabitants, one of the best in the world, but also because “due to the values of solidarity and humanism that characterize us, from 1963 to the present, 407,000 health professionals have been present in 164 countries on all continents. Currently, there are more than 29,000 in 66 nations,” Cuban Public Health Minister, Dr. José Ángel Portal Miranda, recently noted on speaking at the 72nd session of the World Health Assembly, held in Geneva, Switzerland, May 20 through 28.
