Japan''s Parliamentary Deputy Foreign Minister Pays Visit to Cuba

Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Hitoshi Kikawada, will arrive today in Cuba to pay an official visit, during which he will meet with authorities of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
 
According to Cuban Foreign Ministry's website, Kikawada will meet with Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra, as part of the different activities he will develop in the country.
 

US Blockade Hampers Progress of Relations with Cuba

The persistence of the U.S. blockade on Cuba hinders today the progress of the process to normalize bilateral relations, the general director of the United States Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal, said.
 
In interview with Granma newspaper, the official stated that after one year of the restoration of diplomatic relations, the deterrent and punitive blockade components, and its extraterritorial reach, still have negative consequences for the island.
 

Cuban First Vice President Leads Delegation to Nicaragua

First Vice President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, leads his country delegation to attend the celebrations for the 37th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua, Granma newspaper reported today.
 
According to the newspaper, the delegation is also comprised of Deputy Foreign Minister, Ana Teresita Gonzalez, and Havana ambassador to Nicaragua, Eduardo Martinez.
 
The main event for the Nicaraguan anniversary will take place tomorrow in Managua, capital of the country.

Pastors for Peace Caravan Travels to Cuba

The 27th Pastors for Peace Caravan will travel to Cuba today and is composed of 41 activists showing solidarity with the Cuban people.
 
The contingent is comprised of Americans, Europeans and Mexicans led by Gail Walker.
 
She is the executive director of Pastors for Peace and the daughter of the late Reverend Lucius Walker.
 
Lucius Walker founded the Caravan in 1992.
