13/10/1960
  • At the Presidential Palace, along with President Dr. Osvaldo Dorticós and Rolando Di¬az Aztarai¬n, Minister of the Interior, he signs the laws nationalizing large companies, a total of 382, among which were banks, railroads, department stores, food, textile and clothing warehouses, sugar mills, etc.

  • At the Presidential Palace, with the members of the Council of Ministers, he signs the Laws for Urban Reform, dealing with apartments and recreational facilities.  .
  • At Jose Marti international Airport, with President Dr. Osvaldo Dorticos, he receives President and Prime Minister Sekou Touré of Guinea, travelling directly from New York where he had been attending the Fifteenth UN General Assembly.  It was the first time an African leader was visiting Cuba.   
  • Attends the reception given by President Dorticós in honour of the distinguished African visitor.
15/10/1960
  • Throws the first ball at the start of the Cuban Baseball Winter Tournament at the Cerro Stadium, accompanied by the president of Guinea and his entourage.  
  • Appears on the television program Ante la Prensa to give details about the recently passed Law 890 nationalizing banks and 382 enterprises.

  • At José MartíInternational Airport he bids farewell to departing President and Prime Minister Sekou Touré of Guinea as he leaves for New York.
17/10/1960
  • Appears on the Frente Independiente de Emisoras Libres (FIEL) channel to pronounce the revolutionary laws and explain them.
24/10/1960
  • With President Dr. Osvlado Dorticós, he signs Resolution No. 3 by which the Revolutionary Government nationalized 166 enterprises in the face of the US decision to block all kinds of goods headed for Cuba from the USA.
28/10/1960
  • Takes part in the people`s tribute in the vicinity of the Castillo de la Punta, honouring the memory of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos, on the first anniversary of his physical disappearance. 
  • At the Hotel Nacional he greets the French writers Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, accompanying them to the José Martí International Airport from which the French intellectuals were leaving to return to France after their second visit to Cuba, as guests of the Revolutionary Government.

  • Gives a speech at the Graduation Ceremony of 55 officers of the Rebel Army, members of the 26th of July Motorized Regiment of Managua.

  • He spends the entire day touring various military instruction facilities.

  • Visit to the University of Havana and the University Stadium, talking with hundreds of young people who had volunteered for the militia.  He gives a speech where he states: "A people like this one which we see here before us, a people whose best sons and daughters are ready to give their all for the Homeland; this number of good children shall surely make our enemies think.  Besides, not only do we have courage and morale, we have sufficient weapons."
