- A hand-written message by Fidel was published by Revolución newspaper calling the people to participate in the rally that would take place that same day.
- Speech delivered at a momentous mass demonstration opposite the Presidential Palace where one million people gathered to support revolutionary justice, as part of Operation Truth, and condemn the United States government on its decision to provide refuge to war criminals and embezzlers of public funds. An announcement was made by Fidel that he would make a proposal to the 26th of July Movement leadership for comrade Raúl Castro to be appointed as Second-in-Command of the Movement.
