Peruvian intellectuals Core by Cuban Five convicted in the United States, confirmed his decision to fight for their freedom.
The organization held its first solidarity act of the year, as part of the determination of make outreach and awareness activities about the case of the Five, once a month, goal accomplished fully in 2012, according to a statement presented in the activity.
The intellectuals and other prominent personalities and activists gathered at the local Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) to give its fraternity support to Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and René González.
The Five, as they are internationally known, were arrested more than 14 years ago and sentenced to long prison for gathering information to detect preparations for attacks against Cuba.
The coordinator of the Core, Fanny Palacios, important painter, stressed the need to persist in the struggle to achieve that the Cuban Five are fully free and return to their country.
The president of the Pruvian Committee of Solidarity with the Five, Gustavo Espinoza, stressed the arrival in Peru, in the coming days, of Irma Sehwerert mother of Rene Gonzalez, the only one of the Five who left jail, but remains under the regime of freedom supervised, so he can not return to his country.
Espinoza also said that the Peruvian activists will join the day of solidarity with the committees in the United States seeking the release of Five, held in April.
He added that the recent commemoration of the 54th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution is a stimulus to strengthen and affirm solidarity tasks, as well as the Peruvian-Cuban friendship.
