The 18th National Rally of Solidarity with Cuba will be held over the weekend in this capital, expected to be attended by some 500 delegates, leader of the Mexican solidarity movement, Jesús Escamilla, reported today.
In remarks to Prensa Latina, Escamilla said this will be a bright opportunity for political organizations, unions and other social groups, activists and general public to gather to articulate activities to be carried our trough this year to support the Cuban Revolution.
He announced that delegations from over 20 Mexican states will attend and discuss the struggle against the criminal US blockade on Cuba.
Another priority issue is the campaign for the release of the five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unfairly held in US prisons.
Those heroes --Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, René González and Fernando González" were detained in 1998 and given harsh prison sentences for monitoring Miami-based violent groups that operate with impunity against Cuba.
The meeting will also spread Cuba´s reality in order to counteract the defamatory campaign by international media that serve reactionary interests.
The 18th Rally will be held at the Workers´ University, in the Historic Center of Mexico City, precisely a few blocks from the place where Cuba´s National Hero Jose Marti lived during one of his visits to Mexico.
