The Ecuadorian Guayasamin Foundation on Saturday sent a message to Cuban President Raul Castro to thank him for mentioning the Painter of Ibero-America at the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (CELAC).

The message to the Cuban president says:

"Dear President Raul Castro:

We express to you our heartfelt gratitude for having recalled yesterday in your speech to CELAC your visit in Quito to "The Chapel of Man" and the phrase that Master Guayasamin placed there ("I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a boy who had no feet") to illustrate the relativity of justice.

For Ecuadorians, for the Foundation, for the family, it is a great honor that a historical personality of the continent and the world like yourself has made public your recollections of that cultural monument."

The letter was signed by Pablo Guayasamin, President of the Foundation, and Alfredo Vera, in charge of International Affairs.
