Participants in a meeting of solidarity held in this capital, stressed the importance of the creation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) for regional integration.
Maurice Lemoine, French writer and journalist of Le Monde Diplomatique, said that with the emergence of this organization, last December in Caracas, the dreams of unity of heroes Simon Bolivar and Jose Marti come true.
The creation of the CELAC, without the presence of the United States and Canada, allows Latin American and Caribbean countries to decide their destiny by themselves without foreign interference, said Lemoine to Prensa Latina.
In the meeting, held in the city hall of District XIV of the capital, also participated university professor and historian Paul Estrade, Chilean writer Sergio Zamora Torres and Belgian filmmaker Anne Delstanche.
The participants addressed topics such as the situation of Mapuche in Chile, solidarity with Haiti after the earthquake, the case of the Cuban five convicted in the United States, and Washington's blockade against Cuba.
