Fidel Castro Congratulates Medical School on 50th anniversary
The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, congratulated all graduates of the "Victoria de Giron" Institute of Basic and Preclinical Sciences, on the 50th anniversary of its creation, for complying their duty with honor.

The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, congratulated all graduates of the "Victoria de Giron" Institute of Basic and Preclinical Sciences, on the 50th anniversary of its creation, for complying their duty with honor.
In a message read by Public Health Minister Roberto Morales, Fidel Castro recalled that educational center was opened five decades ago, in response to the criminal action by the neighboring empire which promised employment to most of the 6,000 doctors the country had at that time.
The Institute marked the beginning of the mass training of physicians and had the academic course just started, the October missile crisis occurred, and the school, with its students, after a brief and intense training, became a strong artillery unit, the text says.
Thus, the tradition of that medical institution emerged and raised, and after the most critical days, the center was capable of forging tens of thousand of professionals and lead our country to the highest levels of prevention and health, the letter states.
Many graduates fulfilled honorable missions in remote places of the world, in very difficult conditions. In most nations, Cuba provided these services free of charge. Such behavior has given our country a good reputation, Fidel Castro said.
During the activity, teachers, workers and students, founders of the center, received diplomas, signed by the leader of the Revolution, and the 50th anniversary commemorative coin.
A diploma of recognition was also sent to Fidel Castro, for being a founder and a promoter for the development of Cuban public health.
