The repair of properties related to the assault on the Moncada barracks on July 26, 1953 is being carried out here today on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the historical event.
The director of the Office of the Curator of the City, Omar Lopez, informed there are four main areas of the July 26 monumental building, which includes the former military fortress and other buildings associated with the event.
Brigades of builders work in the school located in the area, said Lopez, who detailed the work to be undertaken in the former Civil Hospital, also assaulted that day, where is also located the park named Abel Santamaría.
The architect recalled the area also includes the nurse room where Fidel Castro gave his plea History Will Absolve Me, in defense against the accusations because of the armed action.
The Curator of the City stated the Court House is also part of the renovation plan, another goal of the revolutionary attack, which along with several facilities around revitalize its image as part of the national memory.
