Economic Reforms in Cuba Key Topic at Seminar

The economic reforms in Cuban provinces and territories, and the structure of the basic expenses of an urban family in 2011 are the focus here today of participants at the annual seminar hosted by the Center for the Study of the Cuban Economy (CEEC).
During the second session of the CEEC event on economics and business management, there will also be discussions on innovative business environments throughout the island.
Brazilian Thomaz Ferreira gave a keynote speech yesterday entitled "The innovative macroeconomic policy in Brazil; successes and challenges," in which he highlighted the significant increase of public investment in the country during the last 10 years.
He also said the State has played an important role in the resolution of problems like access to employment, and in gaining other social rights.
He stressed that from 2002-2012 the number of formal jobs grew by more than 20 million.
CEEC experts discussed aspects of the updating of the Cuban model, including those related to macro and micro economics, and productive linkages, among others.
This annual forum runs until Friday, June 28, at the Hotel Nacional, and includes other important issues regarding the changes taking place in Cuba, as well as a keynote speech on innovative business policies in Chile.
