The 21st National Solidarity Meeting with Cuba on Sunday will be held at the headquarters of the Dominican Medical College.
According to Roberto Payano, national coordinator of the campaign, the meeting will be attended by representatives of some 20 provincial committees, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Cuban Ambassador Alexis Bandrich Vega, and other officials of the diplomatic mission .
The meeting will review activities undertaken during this year, among which are actions for the release of the Cuban Five, who are unjustly held in the United States.
On two occasions, the Dominicans showed solidarity with Cuba by sending cards to the U.S. Embassy in the capital, while demanding the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González and René González, whose life is endangered by his parole status, and asking for their return.
The activities also included literary evenings, an exhibition of Gerardo's drawings, and distribution of e-mail addresses and telephone numbers of President Barack Obama and the White House to ask directly for the release of the Cuban Five.
