Cuban residents in Haiti gave a letter to the Nunciature in this capital addressed to Pope Benedict XVI asking him to intercede on behalf of The Five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters unfairly held in US prisons.
The message, signed by members of the Association of Cuban Residents and Descendants in Haiti and by Haitian friends of Cuba, denounces the over 50-year US blockade against Cuba and urged the Pope to mediate so that Washington orders the immediate release of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino and Rene Gonzalez, so that they are able to return to their homeland.
This action is part of initiatives organized every month in Haiti to spread the truth about The Cuban Five, in support to the struggle for their final release.
The message was made public by local radio stations and journals.
