European academic institutions and universities, such as La Sapienza, in Rome, Italy, and some others from Spain are participating in cooperation projects with the Hermanos Saiz University of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, to foster the exchange of information and joint research.

The collaboration with the Italian university is centered in areas such as economic sciences, social work, local development and environment, told Doctor Maria Elena Fernandez, vice-rector of the Hermanos Saiz University to Prensa Latina today.

Fernandez commented that as a result of the initiative, Cuban and foreign scholars exchange mutual experiences and work on scientific publications.

Referring to another similar program, Fernandez mentioned several of them linked to the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, mainly destined to the formation of doctors in computer science and communications, the promotion of physical education and culture and leisure activities during the summer.

The deepening of the bilateral links favours the organization of stays o groups of experts who carry out academic work in Cuba, to which renowned Spanish professors will come here, among other modalities.

Fernandez also highlighted the widening of the collaboration with schools like the Autonomous Polytechnic University of Madrid, and that the Hermanos Saiz University is fostering projects in different profiles with international participation.

Sponsored by organizations of Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, UK and other countries, they are creating a digital platform on forests for Central America and the Caribbean, the rehabilitation of the environment and other ideas.
