Cuban doctors in this capital today expressed their support and admiration to their colleagues who are in a mission in Venezuela giving medical assistance to that people in any circumstances.
In a meeting held in a policlinic of Plaza de la Revolucion municipality, various participants stressed that the Cuban health collaborators remain assisting Venezuelans despite the oppositions destabilization attempts in the wake of the victory of Nicolas Maduro in the recent presidential elections.
Jose Carreras, father of a young Cuban doctor who is giving his service in 23 de Enero neighbourhood, near the Cuartel de la Montaña (Mountain Garrison), where the mortal remains of Hugo Chavez rest, said he continues fulfilling his duty of offering health assistance.
Carreras also said that his son told him in a phone conversation that the Cuban medical staff has received the support of the Venezuelan people.
For his part, the director of the policlinic and former collaborator in Venezuela, Ruben Garcia, extolled the dedication and work of the Cuban health collaborators in Venezuela, who give their service to any patient, no matter his or her political affiliation and social status.
The gathering was attended by families of health collaborators and community representatives, who highlighted the significance of the Barrio Adentro Mission, in which Cuban doctors have saved about 2 million lives and have treated about 534 million patients.
