Representatives from Cuban civil society are holding an online discussion/forum on the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against this country for more than 50 years.
Convened by the Cuban Association of the United Nations (UNCA), the forum brings together lawyers, scientists, historians, academics, intellectuals and economists, willing to answer questions from internet-surfers about the damage Washington's sanctions have caused the island.
According to a note from the UNCA, the debate opened yesterday and will close on Thursday, November 8, with answers and comments from panelists.
Among the discussed issues are the impact of the blockade in sectors such as food, health and trade.
Some internauts are also denouncing the extraterritorial nature of that siege that has been rejected by the UN General Assembly since 1992.
The UN will vote Tuesday on a resolution regarding the need to end the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
According to official data, Washington's sanctions have left the island losses estimated at $1.066 trillion dollars, considering the depreciation of that currency against the price of gold on the international market.
