The economic ties between Cuba and Spain remain positive with highlights in light industry, real estate and agribusiness, said today the president of the Cuba Chamber of Commerce, Estrella Madrigal.
During the opening of the 18th Session of the Business Cooperation Committee between the two nations, Madrigal called to work in order to promote and achieve more in bilateral trade.
Therefore, she stressed the essential role to be played by Cuban and Spanish companies, and the growth of trade at the end 2011.
Until the end of the first half of 2012 there were 33 businesses with Spanish capital in Cuba, she said.
Madrigal stressed that the Spanish business is expected to be one of the most represented again in the next International Fair of Havana (FIHAV).
Meanwhile, the President of the Spanish Council of Chambers, Manuel Teruel, stressed that the meeting shows the constant, active presence of Spanish firms in Cuba.
Teruel said companies want more presence and investment in Cuba, despite the international financial crisis, particularly affecting Europe.
Spain remains the third largest trading partner of Cuba in the world and the largest in Europe.
