Cuba voted today against a UN draft resolution on Syria and considered that the document does nothing to help resolve the situation that rips that country.
The Cuban Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Pedro Nunez Mosquera, warned that the content of the proposals, however, can lead to higher levels of instability and violence in Syria.
This is a biased draft resolution that may even pave the way for foreign military intervention, in which we have had sad experiences recently, said Nunez Mosquera.
Cuba considers that all acts of violence, massacres and terrorist acts that claim innocent lives in Syria should cease, but for this, they must put an end to arms smuggling and money to insurgent groups and their training, he stressed.
In his address to the plenary, the representative of Cuba stressed that this is the most visible manifestation of the regime change policy now prevailing in Washington and other NATO capitals.
Media manipulation must also stop. We are concerned as the news western empires deal with the situation in Syria to pursue political ends, thereby they encourage greater and more brutal bloodshed, he denounced.
Cuba has always supported, and once again reaffirms the right of the Syrian people to fully exercise of self-determination and sovereignty without external intervention or manipulation of any kind, he stated.
