This is a phenomenon that "has plenty to do with dishonesty, but above all with self-deception," Granma newspaper reported, commenting on a case of fraud detected at a local high school.
The article revealed that two teachers from a high school in Havana and an employee at a print shop were arrested after stealing the Math exam for eleventh grade students in Cuba.
With the detection of the action by officials from the Ministry of Education, the exam was canceled and postponed until July 1.
The daily criticized the attitude by some parents, who "in their desire to achieve at all costs the best grades for their children, paid for the fraudulent activity as though knowledge were a commodity and, worst of all, the same students resold those exams."
