Cuba and Norway Strengthen Cooperation in Haiti
Cuba and Norway signed the third agreement of triangular cooperation and humanitarian aid to Haiti for 800,000 USD aimed at the sustainability and permanence of the Cuban medical services in the Caribbean nation.

Cuba and Norway signed the third agreement of triangular cooperation and humanitarian aid to Haiti for 800,000 USD aimed at the sustainability and permanence of the Cuban medical services in the Caribbean nation.
Norwegian ambassador to Cuba, John Pette Opdahl, stated at the signing of the document that this type of project is being implemented since 2010 as a contribution to the restoration for the damages caused by the earthquake that struck Haiti in January that year, which already reaches 2.5 million USD in total.
He said that this model of tripartite collaboration is intended to benefit the Haitian people and it is a way to invest money in an efficient way in a country in need.
Pette Opdahl said that Norway was one of the first governments to provide funding for the reconstruction of Haiti, in particular for the creation of a permanent medical infrastructure, aid that up to the date reaches 150 million USD.
Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ileana Nuñez, higlighted Norway´s support to the work of the Cuban brigade, before and after the quake, in the confrontation of the epidemic of cholera and in the prevention of the disease and development of the health infrastructure in the department of southern Haiti.
Jean Victor Geneus, Haiti's ambassador to Cuba, expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the Haitian people and government for the efforts of both nations, which meet the specific requirements demanded by the situation in the country, in particular Cuban doctors´ work.
