The president of the Council of State of Ghana, Kofi Awoonor, met here with Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo, as part of a visit to Havana.

During Tuesday's meeting, the two officials reviewed the current state of bilateral relations, Granma newspaper reported.

They also expressed their common will to strengthen and deepen ties between both nations and discussed other international issues.

Cuba and Ghana have strong bilateral relations, and partnerships have been established in areas such as health, agriculture, sports and education.

More than 170 Cuban health collaborators are working in Ghana, while nearly 1,200 Ghanans are studying in Cuban high-school and higher education centers.
