The 8th International Colloquium for the Release of the Cuban Five will end on Saturday with a rally to demand the release of the Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons.
Residents in this eastern Cuban city will join nearly 400 participants in the event to show their support for the cause of Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez.
On the last day of the forum, which opened on November 28, visitors will meet with local residents in Tents for Peace, a space used to show the actions taken in Holguin to demand the release of the Five, as they are known worldwide.
On Friday, the participants approved the final statement of the event, which called to multiply actions and improve coordination between them to increase the capacity for action.
The document calls for further work around the world, mainly in the United States, with the aim of reaching President Barack Obama and ensure that, using his faculties, he releases the Five unconditionally.
Also on Friday, the delegates did voluntary work in several municipalities, including Gibara and Banes, to contribute to the recovery of the province, one of the hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy.
