Edeltrudes Costa, Minister of State and Head of the Civil Affairs Office of the Presidency of the Republic, stressed in this capital that cooperation between Angola and Cuba is strengthened today in higher education with strong exchanges in this sector.
Speaking at the Second Meeting of Angola-Cuba Rectors, Costa stated that collaboration with the Latin American country allows to strengthen here some teaching aspects as an organization, management, teachers' training, researches, and development of new educational institutions.
He also said in the event, in which a delegation from the Caribbean country is participating, that higher teaching in Angola has very structured and diversified relations with Cuba, facilitating the exploration of several action lines.
Costa also said that the holding of this rectors' event reveals the firm willingness of Angola and Cuba, to deepen ties between the two countries, dating back to the stage of the Angolan liberation struggle.
In turn, Adao do Nascimento, Minister of Higher Education in Angola, said this African country promotes the training of professionals in science, techniques, and technology for its development.
The role of teachers in the teaching process, and examination of cooperation between the two states in education, are being discussed, among other issues, during this academic meeting.
According to official sources in Angola, a country with 59 institutions of higher education, more than 3,900 teachers, who teach classes to more than 198,000 students, are working in that sector.
