Authorities in Peru Laud Cuban Medical Brigade Work

Peruvian Minister of Health, Patricia García, and the governor of Piura, Reynaldo Hilbck, lauded the work of a Cuban medical brigade taking care of the victims of the recent floods.
 
The authorities cited highlighted the industriousness, professionalism, and dedication of the 23 health professionals who daily take care of hundreds of people affected by the natural disasters, which left a toll of 107 deaths in various regions of the country.
 
This solidarity group is made up of members of the international contingent Henry Reeve, specialized in disaster situations.
 
Speaking to a Cuban television team, brigade chief Rolando Piloto reported that up to yesterday, they treated 6,641 patients in hospitals in the city of Piura and in nearby camps where thousands of victims live in tents due to the loss of their homes destroyed or seriously damaged by the floods.
 
He added that 10 doctors and an equal number of nurses from the brigade joined yesterday the field hospital inaugurated by the Minister of Health and will work there in shifts 24 hours a day.
