Representatives of Cuba and China honor women

Representatives of Cuba and China attended on Friday an act to honor women and in which the work of this sector by assuming different roles in society was extolled.
 
Cuban officials in Beijing met with Xia Jie, Vice President of the All-China Women's Federation; Liu Yuqin, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs, and female diplomats from Venezuela, among other guests.
 
Xia referred to China's commitment to helping that population group overcome the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, progress gender equality and constantly empower it.
 
Meanwhile, Erianna Suarez, secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) at the Cuban Embassy in Beijing, stressed that in her country, women have a wide presence in areas such as labor market, higher education, scientific branch, Parliament and the State.
 
In turn, Cuban Ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira reviewed both nations' progress to raise the role of women in society and the definition of gender equality as a basic state policy.
 
The gala included a cultural moment, the prize-giving ceremony to Chinese female officials and two Cuban female adolescents' joining to the ranks of the FMC.
