The British Parliament Grahame Morris formalized today the nomination of the contingent of Cuban doctors Henry Reeve for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, for his internationalist work against the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
The response of the international medical brigade Henry Reeve to the Covid-19 is incomparable, and its inspiring internationalism deserves worldwide recognition with the Nobel Peace Prize, said the legislator of the Labor Party in a letter to the Norwegian committee in charge of awarding the annual distinction, told to Prensa Latina the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in the United Kingdom.
 
Morris highlighted that more than 3,700 Cuban health professionals have been in the front line of the battle against the pandemic in 39 countries, where they have assisted 360,000 people and saved thousands of patients infected with the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
 
He also noted that since its creation 15 years ago, the Henry Reeve contingent has saved nearly 100,000 lives in nations affected by natural disasters and health emergencies.
 
The opposition politician, who represents the electoral district of Easington, Northeast England in the House of Commons, is also president of the multi-party group on Cuba of the British Parliament.
 
The process of considering candidates and awarding the Nobel Peace Prize takes place in Norway, unlike the other Nobel Prizes, which are awarded in neighboring Sweden.
 
Cuban internationalist doctors have been officially nominated before the Norwegian committee by dozens of personalities and institutions from different countries.
