Belarusian Minister Evaluates Collaboration with Cuba

Cuba and Belarus assessed today the possibility of cooperation in areas of education and scientific sectors such as research and technology of environment, medicine, biotechnology, nanotechnology, sports and informatics.

These prospects were recognized during a working meeting between Belarusian Education Minister Sergei Maskevich and Cuban Ambassador in this country, Alfredo Nieves.

During the exchange, held at the headquarters of that Ministry, Maskevich acknowledged the development achieved in this area by both countries, and the importance the parties confer it.

In this regard, the minister expressed his desire to expand trade with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education of the island.

The Cuban diplomat, on the other hand, praised the technological advances, and the strength of professional training in Belarus, and discussed the possibility of developing joint programs at masters and doctoral studies.

Nieves provided information to his host on free access to universities in Cuba and about the policy to guide scientific research to solve the main problems of economic and social development.

The meeting brought about the evocation of the historical relations between the two peoples, with emphasis on thousands of specialists trained in Belarusian universities, who currently carry out significant contributions in Cuba to economy, science and education.
