French trade unionist Cedric Quintin on Wednesday demanded the immediate and unconditional lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba, a policy he considered worthy of international rejection.
 
Speaking to Prensa Latina, Quintin, who is also a leader of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), pointed out that the pressure in France and globally is important to achieve the end of the siege in force for 60 years, tightened with more than 200 measures adopted by the administration of former President Donald Trump.
 
Joe Biden's accession to power should mean a change in this policy, he said.
 
In late January, Quintin participated in an act of solidarity with the island in the nearby area of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, where organizations from several sectors welcomed the 62nd anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and demanded the end of the US blockade.
 
The trade unionist insisted on the need to increase pressure to demand the end of the hostility towards Cuba and assured that new actions will be carried out.
 
Quintin joined the request to grant the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to Cuba's Henry Reeve medical brigades for their contribution to the global fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
