France urges Macron to condemn blockade against Cuba
The association Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) demanded President Emmanuel Macron to firmly condemn the U.S. blockade against the island and take actions at the European level so as to end this policy.
In an open letter, addressed to the head of State, the organization, founded in 1995 to promote collaboration with Cuba, urged him to take all necessary measures, in coordination with European institutions, for Washington to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade of more than six decades. The letter also asked Macron to outline the designation of banks in charge of carrying out financial transactions with the Caribbean country, which is not currently happening in France due to the extraterritorial impact of the blockade and the fear of those institutions of the pressure and huge U.S. fines.
The association insisted on the President about the importance of maintaining, developing and strengthening constructive relations with Cuba.
