Love and solidarity mark aid sending to Cuba from Netherlands
The Association of Cubans in the Netherlands (ACH) completed this month filling a container with medical aid for the island, an initiative marked by love and solidarity, Francisco Manuel Freyre, one of its organizers, said on Monday.
The president of ACH told Prensa Latina that the project was materialized on August 5, when the container was closed in the Netherlands with a cargo valued at more than 40,000 euros, after four months of efforts, in a complex situation due to the impact of Covid-19.
According to Freyre, the cargo that will arrive in Cuba in coming weeks includes medical supplies, such as multi-parameter monitors and ophthalmic supplies, facemasks, syringes and needles, as well as sheets, covers, towels and detergent with high concentration, among other resources.
In his opinion, many experiences have been derived from the project, but the fact shows that Cuba is not alone in its struggle to get ahead, in a situation impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the US-imposed blockade.
Along with the Cuban residents in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United Kingdom, Dutch citizens and the Holland Pro Cuba, Remedi and Medic foundations gave their unconditional support to the island.
